Wells of Holme, co. Derbyshire, England - granted in 1664 to Bernard Wells of Holme, son of T. Wells Esq. of Ashton-under-hill, co. Gloucester, had son and heir Bernard - Ermines on a canton or, a buck’s head sable. Crest: A demi talbot ermines.
Note: There was also another coat of arms for this branch of the family, as borne by Richard Wells of Holmes (fl. 1826) and Vice Admiral Thomas Wells (1759-1811), served in French Revolutionary Wars - Or, a lion rampant doubled queued sable in the dexter chief point, a pellet. Crest: A demi ostrich with wings displayed, ducally gorged or, charged on the breast with an escallop sable and holding in the mouth a horseshoe of the second.
