Down, Ireland - The Sloan Baronetcy of Chelsea was a title created in the Baronetage of Great Britain in 1716 for Sir Hans Sloane, medical doctor, President of the Royal Society, and President of the Royal College of Physicians, youngest son of Alexander Sloane Esq. of Killyleagh (1593-1666), collector general of taxes for County Down, born in Scotland - Gules a sword in pale, point downwards argent pommel and hilt or, between two boars’ heads couped at the neck of the third, on a chief ermine a lion passant of the first between two mascles sable. Crest: A lion's head, erased, or, collared with mascles, interlaced sable.
