Shea or O'Shea of Ireland - a Sept of the same race as O'Connell, who formerly possessed Hy-Rathach, now the barony of Iveragh, co. Kerry, and deriving their name from Seagha, Chief of the Sept; they afterwards branched into the cos. Tipperary, Kilkenny, and Waterford - one member was Sir Richard Shee of Upper Court, Bonnestown, co Kilkenny (c. 1555-1608) lawyer, politician, and Deputy Lord Treasurer of Ireland - Per bend indented azure and or, two fleurs-de-lis counterchanged. Crest: A swan rousant sable beaked and legged gules.
