Gloucester, England - granted in 1849 – Edward Sampson Esq. of Henbury (born 1773) and John Sampson Esq. of Henbury (d. 1830), sons of Edward Sampson, High Sheriff in 1778, son of John Sampson, High Sheriff in 1726, son of Edward Sampson, who purchased Henbury in 1627, son of John Samspon Esq., son of Edward Samspon (born 1583), son of John Sampson, son of John Sampson (fl. 1572) - Per bend or and gules a cross flory between two escallops in bend dexter and as many billets in bend sinister all counterchanged. Crest: A fret or, thereon a wivern’s head erased gules collared and semee of billets gold. Motto: Pejus lethdo flagitium.
