granted to General William Palmer Esq. of Hyderabad, India (1740-1816), founder of William Palmer and Company, bankers and merchants - Azure on a fess or, between in chief a greyhound courant, and in base a pelican in her piety argent, two trefoils slipped vert. Crest—An eagle volant rising from a mount with a palm branch in his beak, all proper motto over, “lt shall flourish". Motto—Deeds not words.

In 1779, he married Fais Baksh, (d. 1828), a princess of the Royal House of Delhi, and a descendant of the Shah Jahan, the builder of the Taj Mahal.
