Monroe of Lindertis, co. Forfar, Scotland - The Munro baronetcy of Lindertis was a title created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom in 1825 for the soldier and colonial administrator Major General Sir Thomas Munro, Governor of Madras, son of Alexander Munro, merchant, descended from Munros of Culcraggie - showing above the Munro Eagle an Indian hill fort and underneath it the name Badamy, a fort Sir Thomas captured - Or, an eagle's head, erased, gules, encircled by a branch of ;laurel, on the dexter, and of oak on the sinister side proper, on a chief argent, the representation of an Indian hill fort, and beneath in the letters of gold, the world BADMY; on a canton gules a representation of a silver medal presented by the East India Company for his services in Sertingapatam in 1799. Crest: An eagle close proper, having a representation of the medal pendent from its neck by a ribbon, the dexter claw resting on an escutcheon gules charged with a representation of the first, of BADAMY, as in the arms, and in the beak a sprig of laurel. Motto: Dread God.
