Details: granted in 1569 to Rowland Johnson of Kittlesworth, surveyor of Queen’s works at Berwick - Sir Nathaniel Johnson was born in Durham, England in 1644. After serving in the British Army, he became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle Upon Tyne. After this, he traveled to the Province of Carolina and became its governor. He also defended Charlestown against an attempted Franco-Spanish assault
