Northumberland, England - Thomas James (1807-), Justice of the Peace, Deputy Lieutenant, landowner, rebuilt the structure in 1830, son of William James of Otterburn Castle, son of John James Esq. of Newcastle, co. Northumberland, son of Thomas James Esq. of Cargo and Stenton, co. Cumberland, had son William James, a Lieutenant in the 42nd Higherlanders who served in the Crimean War - Sable on a chevron argent between three dolphins embowed erminois as many cross crosslets gules. Crest: A buffalo passant gules armed proper the dexter forefoot resting on an escutcheon argent charged with a pheon sable. Motto—Deo semper confide (Trust always in God).
