Henry Howard (1540-1614), English courtier who was elevated to the peerage as Earl of Northampton in 1604, grandson of Thomas Howard (1473-1554), 3rd Duke of Norfolk and Earl of Surrey, politician of the Tudor era, who as grandson of John Howard, politician and soldier who was elevated the peerage as Duke of Norfolk in 1483, son of Sir Robert Howard of Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk (1385-1436) - also for Thomas Howard, who was said to be elevated to the peerage as Viscount Bindon, a title which was later revived in 1706 for Henry Howard, Lord Walden, who was made Earl of Bindon - Gules on a bend between six crosses crosslet fitchée argent an escutcheon or, charged with a demi lion rampant pierced through the mouth with an arrow, within a double tressure flory counterflory of the first, a crescent for difference.
