John Hood (1795-1878), son of Thomas Hood of Hardacres (1749-1834) and Agnes Cockburn, and a descendant of James Hood of Hoodsland (1626-1698), assumed the surname Cockburn-Hood, and had sons Thomas, Alexander, and John, and daughters Cecilia, Ann, Janet, Rachel, Agnes, and Isabella – had grandson John Cockburn-Hood (1844-1902), an English cricket player born in Australia
