Renfrew, Scotland - granted in 1865 to Thomas Hill (1813-1888), a Glasgow businessman, Chairman of the Caledonia Railway Company, who had Merrylee House built in 1855, son of Robert Hill (1771-1842), son of James Hill (1731-1791), son of Rev. Laurence Hill (1700-1773), son of Ninian Hill of Lambhill (d. 1738) - Azure a mount or, with the sun arising and appearing over the top in his splendour proper, all within a bordure ermine. Crest: A Bible expanded proper. Motto: Veritas superabit montes (Truth shall cross mountains).
