The Hickman Baronetcy of Gainsborough in the County of Lincoln was created in the Baronetage of England in 1643 for Sir Willoughby Hickman (1650-1643), son of Sir William Hickman (c. 1549-1625), son of Anthony William Hickman Esq. (c. 1510-1573), a mercer, descended from Robert Fitz-Hickman, lord of the manors of Bloxham and Wickham, co. Oxford, Henry III, 1272 - Per pale indented argent and azure. Crest—A talbot couchant argent collared and lined azure at the end of the line a knot. Motto—Toujours fidele.
The second Baronet represented East Retford in the House of Commons. The third Baronet sat as member of parliament for Kingston upon Hull, East Retford and Lincolnshire. The title became extinct on the death of the fifth Baronet in 1781.
