Admiral Sir Charles Hardy of the Royal Navy (c. 1714-1780), politician, governor of New York, son of Vice-Admiral Charles Hardy (c. 1680-1744), born at Guernsey in around 1680, the son of Philip Le Hardy (died 1705), commissioner of garrisons on Guernsey, and Marie née Le Filleul - Sable on a chevron ermine between three escallops argent as many griffins’ heads erased of the field. Crest: An arm embowed in armour, gauntlet proper garnished or, holding a griffin’s head, as in the arms.
