confirmed to Sir William Osborne Hamilton (1750-1818), K.H., formerly Governor of Heligoland, son of William Hamilton (d. 1775), medical doctor - Gules on a chevron ermine between three cinquefoils argent a sword in pale, the blade passing through a wreath of laurel all proper, on a canton or, an eagle displayed with two heads sable. Crest: Out of a mural crown or, an oak tree proper the trunk thereof transfixed with a sword in fess, the blade wavy argent pommel and hilt or, over the crest the motto: Through.
