George Evans, a man who was a "distinguished public character" who refused a peerage from King George I, son of Hon. George Evans of Caherass and Bulgaden Hall, Member of Parliament (1658-1720), son of Colonel Evans (d. 1707), Member of Parliament, son of Colonel George Evans of Ballygreen Castle, who served in the army raised to supress the rebellion of 1641, for which he received large land grants from the Crown, son of John Evans (fl. 1628), who settled on Limerick - Argent three boars’ heads couped sable. Crest—A demi lion rampant reguardant or, holding between the paws a boar’s head, as in the arms. Motto—Libertas (Liberty).
