Sir John Cowan (1774-1842), Lord Mayor of London, Sheriff of City of London, hosted Queen Victoria during her visit to London and was created a Baronet in 1837 in thanks, died at him home in Forrest Hill, co. Kent - Argent a saltire gules a chief of the last, thereon two swords saltireways proper pomels and hilts or, encircled by a representation of the collar of the Lord Mayor of London, also proper between two fasces gold. Crest—A demi lion ermine gorged with a representation of the collar of Lord Mayor of London, as in the Arms.
