Clerk of Mavis Bank, Scotland - Sir John Clerk (c. 1676-1755), 2nd Baronet of Penicuik, lawyer, judge, politician, and composer, had Mavisbank house constructed, had seven sons and six daughters - There was a Robert Clerke of Mavisbank (fl. 1784) Or, a fesse chequy azure and argent between two crescents in chief gules and a boar's head in base sable, all within a bordure gules charged with eight bezants. Crest: A demi huntsman winding a horn proper over it the motto "Free for a blast".
