Clerk of Pennycuick, co. Edinburgh, Scotland - The Clerk Baronetcy of Penncuik was a title created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia in 1679 for Sir John Clerk, son of John Clerk, a merchant who returned from Paris in 1647 with a considerable fortune and purchased the lands of Penicuik in Midlothian, son of William Clerk (d. 1620), merchant - Or, a fesse chequy azure and argent between two crescents in chief gules and a boar’s head couped in base sable.
