Carson of Shanroe, co. Monaghan, Ireland – purchased by John Carson in 1667, was inherited by his only son, Thomas Carson of Feymore, who also purchased the lands of Silloo. Thomas had two sons: 1. Rev Thomas Carson of Tyrone, Curate of Errigal Trough and 2. Rev. Joseph Carson. One of their descendants was Thomas Carson of Shanroe (born 1866), Captain in the Royal irish Rifles, Justice of the Peace for Longford, and graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge -
