There was George Bowen Esq. (1782-1848) of Drogheda, and of Laurencetown House, Gilford, co. Down, Captain in the Royal Navy, “earned no little distinction for gallant conduct in H.M.'s frigate Apollo”, son of James Bowen (1740-1796)
