Atkinson of Cangort, Kings County, Ireland - Anthony Atkinson (d. 1626) was a junior officer in the army who received a grant of lands in Co. Offaly and built a fortified residence known as Cangort Castle. He was succeeded by his son, William Atkinson (born 1613), who had son Anthony Atkinson (1630-1663), who had son William Atkinson (c. 1655-1685), who had son Anthony Atkinson (1680-1743), barrister, Member of Irish Parliament - Or, an eagle displayed with two heads azure beaked and legged gules in chief a rose of the last seeded gold between two martlets sable.
